T is for telephone

capris: NewYork & Co.($25) cami: JCREW via downeast ($4) cardi: NewYork&Co.($20)
Earrings: gift-homemade  Necklace: Cherry Lane Boutique ($6.50)

ok before we start todays Alphabet Soup; I just want to explain myself. The first two pictures aren't very me- but i wanted to show ya'll the outfits.
And the third one- thats more me
k, i'm done :]

Telephone

Alright...so I have a confession to make
are you sitting down?
sometimes i wish cell phones didn't exist. yeah, i know, right? your thinking- Celeste, are you nutso?!but hear me out- the whole reason is that texting is the turn off for me. So maybe it's not a lets-get-rid-of-all-cell-phones thing, but the idea of just doing away with texting. it makes me sad to see people not be able to communicate face-to-face like they used to. Reminisce with me a sec...(if you're too young to remember these days, then i really feel bad for you)

remember growing up- you were brushing your teeth in your PJs...when suddenly your brick-of-a-cell-phone starts ringing. you know exactly who it is and halfway wipe the foam from your mouth and literally dive for the thing.
"hello?"
"hey."
O,yeah...it's him, the boy who calls you almost every night just to talk to ya. And you spend hours talking on the phone with each other until either of your moms catches you and you get chewed out for being up so late on a school night.

fast forward 5 or so years...boys are so stinkin chicken that they even try to ask you out on a date through texting - ok not all boys, but come on - even one boy is enough ladies. But it seems like a lot of conversations now-a-days are through texting and it makes me miss the old days. i miss talking and laughing with friends/that one cute boy over the phone. "Whats up" and "LOL" just doesn't do it justice.
see what i'm sayin?
so ladies- if a boy calls instead of texting you all the time...he is a keeper. And if you don't want him...well then whose the nutso now hmmm? ;]

heres some Mat Kearney love for you, via the telephone.

S is something blue

Dress from dELiAs-49.50 but on sale for 39.50

Something Blue

Alright so I'm on a color kick, but you know you love it. I would have to say though...i really do need me some blue pants too. They're next on my hit list.

i.love.blue.

it is my absolute favorite color and i believe that it makes anyone and everyone look absolutely stunning. The more vibrant the better! Then add it with white...elegantER -its a new word, in my dictionary in case you didn't know.

i also think it looks amazing with a good summer tan, gosh i can't wait to not look pasty white! Last year I didn't get to spend as much time outside as I wanted, but this summer...its me and the pool baby...and probably Alyssa too. it just needs to be a bit warmer...and then ill get my lil toosh into a bathing suit and blind everyone for the first couple of times getting my tan on.

BUT. i have a little work to do...so this is the MEGA downside to living with your best friend.

you have somebody to help: you make cookie dough disappear, eat Taco Bell at 2 am, faithfully eat Kneaders unlimited french toast on sat mornings (i swear that place knows the secret trap door leading to heaven because those french toasts seriously are TOO delicious), and eat candy, lots of candy.

needless to say there isn't such a thing as the freshman 15, but there are no buts, ands, or ifs about it a bestie 10 DOES exist. but go figure because i haven't been exercising much.

so before i go dig out my swimsuit, Alyssa and I are turnin our bestie 10 into bestie -10

i called up my mom because she is a gymnastics teacher and a world class ballroom dancer...so if anyone knows skinny..its her!

Here were her tips:
  • don't eat after 6 p.m.
  • she likes to eat a nice big grapefruit for breakfast
  • inhale TON of fruits and veggies
  • cut out the sweets (mom, this is next to impossible)
My roomie also gave me some cool tips (she is in nutrition)
  • Drink some water before you start eating and you won't overeat as much because you'll get fuller faster
  • stretch your muscles before and after workouts -(apparently this helps with making your muscles leaner rather than bulkier? weird, but hey guess it doesn't hurt to try)
  • The stomach shrinks after 3 days...so push through it, but it only takes one slip up to stretch it back out. (i'm not saying starve, heck no...i just won't have five bowls of cereal in one sitting, haha true story ladies - i like me some life cereal ok?)
  • try to continuously exercise for at least 30 min
and this is my advice to myself as i'm eyeing down something ridiculously delicious: eat until your satisfied, not until you think you're going to explode.

p.s. still thinking about starting an elephant club and making t-shirts to run in...

R is for red pants

Zara Jeans for 39.9 bucks (they come in green too!)

Red Pants

i. want. some. BAD.

every time i see someone on campus sporting some awesome red jeans...i die a little inside. it's true, Alyssa would agree because I always say, "I love those red pants" at least three or four times.

Maybe if i keep at it she'll just buy me some to keep me quiet? def a strategy i'll try...

speaking of Alyssa buying me things...remember how Alyssa bought some chocolate covered cinnamon bears?

in the library theres a place called the periodicals section...its seriously the most deathly quiet place on the face.of.the.earth.

anyways - it was late.
and there weren't a lot of students in there, maybe like six.

ENTER: Alyssa and I

we sat down -quietly- on some lounge chairs in the center of the room to do some reading. And of course she has the bag of those stinkin delicious bears...so she gives me two.

i think i completely caught Alyssa off guard...because as soon as she had given them to me I started making them jump up and down on the arm rest because i was so happy she bought them, and yes maybe i was putting off studying but thats not the point. ANYways , of course we make eye contact right as I was starting to do it.

i don't know if it was because it was late. or because we are absolute morons. or because of my epic facial expression. or because those bears just had a sense of humor we weren't ready for.

we both explode -silently...ok kind of.

we're sitting there for what seemed like forever trying to can our fit of giggles. pretty sure we looked like two five-year-olds having a good time.

the death glares from the other students were honed in on us...which of course made the whole episode worse.

i.thought.i.was.going.to.die.

finally Alyssa and I literally run out of our chairs and book it  for the bookshelves-no pun intended. once we're in deep enough we let it loose. my stomach hurt i was laughing so hard.

pretty sure the whole silent floor heard us laughing our heads off. but we were hiding...so we tried ok? after we composed ourselves, we sit and study. after about 30 min, music suddenly blared out of the speaker right above us.

our library plays music the last fifteen min before it closes...whoever is in charge of that playlist...you.make.my.day.  they play all sorts of stuff: from classical to old school rock'n roll to the star wars theme song.

when it came on Alyssa practically had a heart attack. cue: bursting into a fit of more giggles. and since no one was in the library really i start hopping around in sync with the big drums and cymbals playin...but super awkwardly. i thought Alyssa was going to pee her pants, she couldn't take it anymore.

library- you've never been a more hilarious place. my favorite? the old lady cracking up as i jumped a 180 with my legs spread out and landing perfectly in sync with the crash of a cymbal.

Lesson Learned: an Alyssa and Celeste combo = bad for quiet study places

p.s. I'm sorry I've been ignoring you, i love you but this week hasn't loved me. translation: this week has been freakishly craziliciously nutso.

p.p.s. there is a fabulous new tutorial up!

P is for purse

urse

purses...it's a love hate relationship thing purses and I have.

L.O.V.E.

  1. sneaking in anything from a snickers bar to a liter of soda into the movies...let see a boy stick one of those suckers in his bum pocket!
  2. having candy/food in your purse period. k i have the munchies right now- hence the food obsession.
  3. being able to have an extra brush on hand- this is a MEGA bonus because I drive a scooter to school...yeah ladies sexy wind blown hair...complete lie. I'd like to call it poofball of hair with occasional surprises of bugs. yum.
  4. CHAPSTICK. My purse and it are .married. happily of course. And mr. chapstick and I are besties.

hate

  1. Pulling a Marry Poppins with everyone and their dog staring. Yes, cashier hold on a couple of years while I look for my credit card that fell out of my wallet.
  2. Not being able to find your keys, so you end up looking all over your apartment...you can't find it. In a final attempt you dump your purse upside down for the second time...o look my keys. how does that happen?!
  3. not ever being able to just reach in my bum pocket for my wallet. im convinced boys have got everything easier.
  4. No I'm not a gimp...my purse just weighs more than me k?

O is for over

shoes: sparrys  purse: NY&CO. cardi: hollister pants: NY&CO.
cami: Wetseal-for a penny!!) earrings: NY&CO.
ver

school is over! kinda...i still have one more final. and also
schools out for only 4 days.  BUT i can still celebrate :]
Summer School- why do you exist?

.but. i feel ok about it because I have had such a crazy yet wonderful past week. It is so funny how that can happen. Seriously I had the most INSANE week, but even through all the messes that i magically survived through-i just had a happy week. if through finals i can be a happy camper-then bring it summer school!

happiness may or may not have come from being an exclusive member of The Lunchbox Kids. best.idea.ever. So a couple of coworkers and I started a lunch club. Plain and simple: we switch off days making lunch for each other

yeah, jealous much? whats that? ur tummy growlin?

it really did make my week though. Its like Christmas getting that brown paper bag. i just cant wait to see whats in it! best surprise yet in it you ask?

Capri Sun...why can't they have those in vending machines?!

anyways this week my professor asked all of us to find someone more stressed out than ourselves during finals. Rob and I were talking and he told me he was going to have a .nuts. day the next day - so heck why not? And lunches...really make everyone's day a little brighter- if not you are nutso. very. nutso.

yes the sandwich may have been smooshed...but i feel the dunkaroos and capri sun made up for it. o and the hostess pie.

funny story about those pies: I was minding my own business at Smiths because after making my lunches for the day

i'm thinkin- Celeste...guys eat A LOT more than girls. So I went to go look for more treats to make my lunches man worthy.

then.i.saw.them.

a huge pile of hostess pies for a buck.each. I grabbed a pile of them and walked over to the celery (ants on a log? a must in lunches!) funny thing is- i didn't have a cart. or basket.

So here I am juggling FOUR hostess pies in my fingertips.

and.enter.boys......who know me. don't mind me i'm just lugging around a pile of pies in my hand. all for me? no not at all. would they believe it? no not at all. hahaha but hey i'm in the fresh produce section- gotta give me some props for that.

what does boy say? "Well Celeste you are just my type of girl"

umm. you are .hilarious. of course i ended up explaining myself but i can just imagine him seeing me across the way with a pile of pies in my hands. thats hott.

song stuck in my head: so.good.

N is for necklace

ecklace

My favorite word...and thing. A necklace really can make or break an outfit for me. Alyssa hates them but I try and wear them with every outfit. If theres a matching necklace, then I'm wearing it. Today I want to tell you about my two brand spanking new necklaces that have joined the hoard on the wall.

Wanna know the best part?

Those were 6.50 each...ya you heard me. The one on the right is my favorite, it is the prettiest color pink and the picture just doesn't do it justice.

Where you ask?

Cherry Lane. fancy sounding isn't it?

You know those boutiques that you walk into and you'd swear boutiqueing was an art and all you could do was just...stare at it all?  Well no you don't know- unless you've been to Cherry Lane.

You know that feeling you get during Christmas time when looking at the most beautifully decorated house in all of town? It felt like magic just to look at it. Thats this place.

I'll have to go in and take pictures sometime...you'll die....or if you're lucky enough to be in Provo then take a peek yourself. They have sales every Saturday- thats where I snagged these babies.

Cherry Lane is also the place that I got this headband for 7 Mr. Washingtons.

Anyways it's across from the Provo Library...Alyssa and I bought a ton of stuff last weekend- they had a blowout sale. I'll take pictures soon so ya'll can see all the goodies we got. I'm so excited about it all!

Cherry Lane -  check.it.out.

P.S. There is a new do-it-yourself up and it looks really neat! I can't wait to do it!

P.P.S. I've got some Pandora Love for you...discovered a new favorite: The Brass Bed Band

M is for mom

om

K ladies it's M time...and I couldn't resist a momma post. Yeah...your moms are probably pretty cool...but mine is cooler...way cooler.

i think only when you're up at college do you realize just how much they did for you...like the other day i saw a kid with a sack lunch...not only did my tummy shout out a manly growl, but i was sadly reminded how no one makes me lunch anymore. Sure, sometimes she got a bit enthusiastic about jelly in the PB&J...but soggy sandwich or not, she was awesome for doing it every.day. Plus my mom was super cool cuz I was one of those lucky kids who got ding dongs and twinkies in her lunch! Totally makes up for soggy sandwiches ladies!

also my mom has a FAB-ulous sense of style....yeah see this outfit? see that dress, coat, purse and necklace? Yeah- my momma gots taste ladies...she picked all of those out. In fact, I think most of my wardrobe had to be mommy-approved before I felt it looked great.

also also, shes gorgeous and tiny...and has been mistaken for a sister numerous times- awkward but awesome haha

L.O.V.E. you momma :]

L is for laughs

augh

My favorite past-time. I'm convinced that laughing is what gave me my abs- it's true i have them, ask any boy that has punched them! awkward but true, there have been many a man that have punched these suckers...haha mainly because they tell me i'm a sissy, then i tell them to prove it, then they punch my stomach jokingly, then their eyebrows shoot up in surprise, then they punch me again, and then...they're impressed. whose a sissy now? ;]

Anyways today's blog is obsessed with strawberries because i bought strawberries for 88 CENTS!! What the what?! Also...now my fridge and freezer are full of strawberries...which is not a bad thing at all. Those of you who live in Provo, get your tooshes over to the SunFlower Market...it's behind Rubios. And if you don't know where Rubios is, then theres no way you live in Provo.

Back on track now...Sunflower market, its a farmer's market and it is FANtastic. They have organic hippy what not stuff there but the reason i go....ummm hello? cheap fruit and veggies..yes please?! They also have almond milk...which is my milk allergy's and i's best friend. try.it.

p.s. creeper of a photo, Cory was makin me laugh while i was pullin a face...and this is the product. keeper isn't it?
p.p.s. this strawberry is from case number 2. preeeetttyyy sure these strawberries are going to be gone...pronto

K is for kites

ites

i hear the alarm ring. get up thinking today is going to be a nice warm day. Its almost april right?

you.are.so.wrong.celeste.

i open the door and a blast..a blast of frigid cold wind almost knocks me over.
and then all i could think of today as i was staring out my office window, car window, class window, apartment window...i spent a lot of time window staring today ok? because...i just thought, "this would be the perfect day to fly a kite...if it were warm."

and then on my way to class i walked past a motorcycle...that had been blown over. then i really thought...i could have really really flown a kite today. and then walked past it.

dear sun,
where were you today so i could have flown a kite?
sincerely, singing 'lets go fly a kite' in my head all day.

J for jogging

Coat: Park City Outlets Jeans: Pac Sun RainBooties: target
Earrings: Kohls Purse: Kohls Glove: Gift

p.s. awkward last picture haha but i wanted ya'll to see the gloves!

ogging

Alyssa and I have been jogging about two to two and a half miles a day. We jog in an indoor track up at school. I love it because not only does it keep up from being permanent members of the elephant club, but it gives me a lot of time to think. Alyssa and I work out harder when we don't talk so I gotta lotta time to spend time thinking things out.

But the funniest thing is how we run. So Alyssa runs better when she isn't running beside someone, it slows her down. Me...I'm the opposite. I have to have something to measure myself against. If I don't, then I poop out a lot faster and give up. So I figured out a good system to our jogging tradition. After a while Alyssa figured it out haha!

As I was jogging, trying not to think about the imaginary side-ache I was getting...I'm a wimp if I run by myself ok? Anyways...as I was jogging I saw Alyssa up ahead and then BAM it hit me. I was going to be the ultimate creep and just run right behind her. She'd never know the difference and I would keep up because I'm stubborn like that and hate being a sissy.

Needless to say, Alyssa has found out...but thinks its so stinkin funny and just goes with it. I'm sure the regulars at the gym think we're crazies. We show up. Put in headphones. I run stalkerishly behind her the entire time. We leave.

Makes.my.day.

---------------------------------------------------------

This week's picture is dedicated to my grandma! It was her birthday this past week. Love you grandma!

P.S. see that umbrella? Yeah its awesome...like my grandma. who gave it to me when i was six.

P.P.S. see that purse? you guessed it. Grandma, ya she picked it out. Be jealous. My grandma has taste...good taste.

P.P.P.S. see those gloves? Yep...my great grandma is awesome too. the end.

lesson learned: grandmas are awesome...but pretty sure everyone already knew that!

Sunday, March 13

I is for iceblink

ceblink

Yes, its a word...a fabulous word. Seriously...look.it.up. Or just read this definition I copy and pasted...

iceblink: glare in the sky caused by light reflected off ice

Anyways...todays word is iceblink because you know when you want something SO bad that it just puts a "glare" on everything?

O yes ladies, i just did that...pulling the metaphor card.

Totally counts by-the-way.

Thats how I've been feeling with school. I just want me some summer! I want to wear my sun dresses and get a sun hat, take a nap by the pool on a nice HOT day, go on a bike ride,  getting the drift?

Please get me out of school and throw me into summer!

Okay...I'm done. Now I'll write something worthwhile.

So warmer weather is on its way right? That means shiny faces. SO listen...here is a way to keep your makeup lookin F-resh while keeping your pockets filled with green.

Get a small spray bottle and fill it with cold water. Then put about 5 drops of lemon juice. Spray away my friends...but don't get crazy. And you'll look like new!

H is for hair

from Disney's movie Tangled.

air

The four letter word that really makes you want to scream sometimes. Ladies, you know the days. No matter HOW much you mess with your 'do it just don't do itself right. Well this post is a commemoration to that four letter word when you trying to GROW the flippin h*** out.

Hey miss long locks, yes you, I envy you. Do NOT chop the hair off, never ever never. My long locks were chopped off two years ago and I've been missing them ever since and trying to grow it all back out. Few girls can pull of the short hair- dear stinkin cute shorties: I envy you ladies even more.

To my girls hanging up wanted signs for long locks...or girls wanting healthier happy hair:

  1. Try not to wash your hair so often-nasty I know, but it will pay off. This is especially helpful if you live somewhere super dry. Shampooing strips your hairs of its natural oils...and hair+natural oils=love  So girlies love your hair, don't wash it every day. please take a shower, I don't want to be held single handedly responsible for adding to the stinkiness men already give the world. For the first week or so, your hair will be greasier than normal because it is still producing oil at the same rate since you were drying it out with shampoo everyday. But I just had a lot of hat days and working my updo...o was I working it!
  2.  Also, baby powder the crud out of your hair in order to survive the greasiness of the don't-wash-your-hair-everyday-thing. I only open the bottle just a little bit, sprinkle it on the oiliest parts of my hair, and take my fingers and ruff up my hair a bit. Then flip your head upside-down and blow dry. Works like a charm! Sometimes it gets staticy...don't have a panic attack...get a dryer sheet and rub it gently against your head and take a breather. It gets rid of the static. Yes, dryer sheets are not just your dryers friend...they're yours too.
  3. Get a ceramic brush. You can find them at Sally's for like five to six bucks. My cousin introduced me to 'em. Ummmm amazing? I think yes! Not only does it protect the hair- don't ask me how, I'm no Bill Nye- but it also makes it SUPER soft and smooth. go buy one- 'nuff said.
  4. Girls who cry when they see how much hair is on the floor after a "trim"...dry your eyes and get this shampoo. I randomly went into a super spiffy salon- it was Christmas time and they were having a hair product sale! ADD much?-  and talked to one of the stylists for a bit about how bad I wanted to grow out my hair. She told me Joico K Pak reconstruct Shampoo was my friend. What she did NOT tell me was that it was my best friend! Seriously, go try it and the nice thing usually about super nice salons is if you aren't satisfied with the result, you can return it...no questions asked. I love the shampoo! And it really isn't that expensive...I got mine crazy cheap- Christmas sale- but I just looked online and they're abt $25 for the both of them in 10.1 oz bottles.
  5. Biotin: been taking it since January...I think its working. I'm not sure if my hair really is growing faster or just wishful thinking. BUT I will know April 4...haha yes I already have a hair apt. I told my friend that I would definitely come in every 7 weeks if I knew she was expecting me at her salon. I was told by about ten different friends, who are hairdressers, to come in every 6-8 weeks and get a trim if you want to grow out your hair. I'm going to try it and see if it gets me anywhere...so I'll be the guinea pig and let ya'll know. And I'll let you know about the biotin too. I measured at the last haircut, so if I grow more than the average per month...I will not only let you know, but be squealing with joy at the top of my lungs...so guess that includes the rest of the world. These little lungs pack a good amount of gusto!
  6. Heat protectant, get one. I haven't found my favorite one just yet, still looking. The winner so far is the one that CHI does...I still eye it questionably when I see steam coming off my curling iron- sickest feeling ever by-the-way. Any suggestions?
  7. Try not to use hot tools everyday. I have a good range of hairdos I do with just a blow-dryer...I'll take pics/videos  when I survive this week (tests out the wazoo, chance of survival: 40%)
Anyways, I could go on for hours... obsessed about growing out my hair much? Well cutie pattootie shorties and long luscious locks...you just don't understand us lengthened challenged ladies...you just don't understand.
